Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I was wondering how do I clean the bottom part of my Perfect Push-Up, b/c it has dirt from the floor.

A: Over time the rubber mat on the bottom will become slick from dirt collected during workouts - from time to time you should use warm soapy water and a rag to scrub the bottom to clean out the "pores" in the rubber to regain better traction on slick surfaces such as hard wood floors - make sure after you wipe the rubber pads down you dry them with a clean paper towel or rag.

Q: Where can I download the 21 Day Workout chart that came with my Perfect Pushups?

A: Download the workout chart here: PerfectPushupOriginalWorkout.pdf.

Q: How can I combine Perfect Pushup and Perfect Pullup workouts? Should I use them both the same day or do pushups one day and pullups the next?

A: For a more challenging workout try the Power 10 Push/Pull workout: here’s how it works: Every minute for ten minutes conduct one set of pullups followed by one set of pushups using the same ratio of 1:2 (1 Pullup = 2 Pushups). For example, you do 5 pullups, then do 10 pushups in one minute. If you finish early, rest. Otherwise, start the next set and repeat until you’ve completed the 10 set workout. The trick is to keep that pace for ten minutes: you need to pace yourself. It will seem easy at first, but the repetitions add up fast! So start slow and finish strong!

Q: How do I move from the Perfect Pushup workout chart to incorporating some specific exercises from the Perfect Pushup Power 10 DVD?

A: Here’s one suggestion: follow the routine on the chart for 21 days. When you start the next 21 day cycle, replace WIDE pushups with one of the pushup movements we've posted on YouTube or that you find on the Power 10 DVD.

Here’s another: start immediately with a couple of the exercises (such as Mountain Climbers and the Super Slow series). Ater you can do 10 Perfect Pushups you're ready to start trying all the exercises. Spending time strengthening your shoulders and rotator cuffs is essential before attempting the more complex exercises found in the follow-on Power 10 DVDs. Most guys have spent a fair amount of time doing conventional pushups or bench presses - good exercises, but they're not completely functional because they don't enable your arms to conduct the full natural rotation. So it's important to spend at least three workouts (assuming they are full body PERFECT PUSHUPS) getting used to the rotation before attempting the Power 10 exercises.

Q: How do I get bigger muscles?

A: If you’re after bigger muscles then you need to load up your muscles. That is, do pushups or pullups to complete exhaustion, then drop to your knees on pushups or lower the Perfect Pullup bar and keep the workout going until you are absolutely spent on your sets. Follow the Perfect Pushup workout plan that comes with the Perfect Pushup or try something even simpler: 1000 pushups and 250 pullups a week.

Q: Can I use it on a carpet? Will it slip on the floor?

A: The 8" rubber base grips well on carpet and all hard floor surfaces. It will not catch on tall carpet.

Q: What kind of results can I expect to see?

A: It depends on how well you follow the workout program. Ten guys who tested the product for one month gained 1 inch in their bicep, and 2 inches around their chest. They also increased their bench press max weight by 10-15%.

Q: I'm very heavy, can I use it?

A: The PPU is very well made and we have not found anyone too heavy to use it.

Q: Does it work for people with arthritis, or joint problems?

A: We recommend you check with your doctor first, but people with these issues are using the product and getting good results, without pain. The rotating handles help reduce the stress on the wrist, elbow and shoulder, making pushups more comfortable.

Q: What is the warranty?

A: The PPU comes with a 30 day money back guarantee (less s&h) and a one year manufacturing defect warranty. We will replace your Perfect Pushup if anything breaks due to a manufacturing defect during the first year.

Q: What's the Perfect Pushup made of?

A: The PPU unit has a heavy gauge ABS plastic housing with a chrome steel handle and thick, padded cell-foam grips.

Inside is a steel ball bearing rotational system that should last a lifetime. The base has an 8' non-skid rubber surface that grips well on carpet and hard floor surfaces. The Perfect Pushup is a commercial grade product.

Q: Is thePerfect Pushup for Women too?

A: Short answer - yes!

The PPU design movements are based on human movement — not male or female movement: we all move our arms the same way — when we extend our arm, our muscles arc or rotate to deal with the movement — I could go into more detail but the bottom line is, if you're interested in fitness and want the most efficient and effective exercises for your body, then you should conduct exercises that work with the natural design of your body -- i.e., functional exercise. And you will not get "big" simply by doing pushups -- you will however tone and tighten your arms, chest (yes, your chest will get a lift from doing pushups without any surgery!), shoulders, back and to an extent your abs (especially if you follow our routine and checklist which come with the Perfect Pushup).

Q: What comes with the Perfect.PUSHUP product?

A: You get two Perfect Pushup rotating handles and a full color instructional chart that shows the proper form for doing pushups. The full color chart also includes a 21 day workout program that you customize to your personal fitness level.

Q: Are there any advanced pushup exercises for the Perfect Pushup?

A: We recommend the Power 10 DVD which includes 10 pushup exercises that most people find very challenging.

Q: How do I follow the workout?

A: You begin by doing a one set max. This means you do as many pushups as you can at one time using the device in the regular position. Then look at the grid marked Routine - 2 Minute Drills and find your one set max on the left column.. If you did 10 - 15 pushups for your max, you will do 8, 6, 4, and 2 pushups all in 2 minutes for each of the three hand positions, regular, narrow and wide. You can take as long as you like between each hand grip set.Following the Schedule, you workout one day and rest the next day. You can retest your one set max anytime and move up to a higher level whenever you are ready.
